Trimmer
![]()
Maybe one of the less exciting supply items but an essential. You'll want to make sure it can measure 12" by 12" papers. There is the orange piece that cuts the paper. The black piece will not cut the paper but enable you to fold the paper which is best when making cards.
You'll see on my trimmer that there are some lines to guide me for some of the common size of papers you might need. The trimmer is something you use all the time so don't skimp out on it. Get one you are comfortable with and that is good quality. There are some ways to find them on sale. Let me know if you need to buy one and I'll share my tips with you.
Papers

You'll find a variety of papers everywhere. You can get 12" by 12" or 8.5" by 11". Solid coloured paper is shown here, but you can also get lots of patterned paper too.

What I've started doing is making my own patterned paper. The top row with green and blue squares is paper I made with a few stamps and three different inks. It's so much fun and it doesn't take too much work.
Ribbons & Brads

There are tons of accessories you can use to make your pages extra special. Here are some ribbons and brads.
Stamps & Inks
![]()
Here are some ink pads, acrylic blocks and rubber stamps (from left to right). I never really stamped much until acrylic stamps came on the market. They are so easy to store and to use. The stamps on the right are flat and don't take much space. Instead of having a block for each stamp you can reuse the acrylic blocks in the middle. The stamps just peel on and off like in the photo below.

Albums
![]()
Here are a few 12" by 12" albums. Typically you can get albums in a variety of colours and sizes of 12" by 12" or 9" by 9" or 6" by 6". How do you know what size is right for you? Depends what you want to do. For my personal scrapbooks, I usually have 12" by 12" albums. If I want to make a gift album for someone, I will create a 9" by 9" album. It's great because it fits 4" by 6" photos and gives you a little room to decorate the page or add a journal for stories or details about the photos or event.
When selecting your album you want to make sure you pick one that can expand, if you want to keep adding pages. Also, you want to make sure that the page protectors inside will show your pages well. If you're making a book that will get a lot of use, having good quality protectors is really important.
